Unstoppable Osimhen: Galatasaray Star Runs Riot In Amsterdam As Chelsea, Barca Struggle
Champions League Night of Drama as Osimhen’s Hat-Trick Dazzles Amsterdam, Barcelona Survive Brugge Scare, Chelsea and Newcastle Split Points
According to Ireporter Online, Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen stole the spotlight on Wednesday night with a breathtaking performance that powered Galatasaray to a stunning 3-0 victory over Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.
The prolific striker delivered a one-man show in Amsterdam, netting all three goals to hand the Turkish giants a crucial win and edge them closer to the knockout stage. After a goalless first half, Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 59th minute with a powerful header from Leroy Sané’s cross. He doubled the lead just minutes later from the penalty spot after Youri Baas was penalized for handball. The Super Eagles star then completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute, converting another penalty following a similar infraction by Gerald Alders — marking his first-ever Champions League treble for Galatasaray.
Elsewhere, Barcelona narrowly escaped defeat in Belgium, securing a 3-3 draw against Club Brugge in a thrilling encounter. Youngster Lamine Yamal shone brightly for Hansi Flick’s side, scoring once and driving much of their attacking momentum. Brugge’s Carlos Forbs was equally influential, bagging two goals and an assist in an intense, end-to-end clash.
At St. James’ Park, Newcastle United extended their European momentum with a commanding 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. Dan Burn opened the scoring with a towering header before Joelinton sealed the victory, ensuring Eddie Howe’s side continued their impressive form in the competition.
Chelsea, on the other hand, were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Qarabag in Azerbaijan. The Blues took an early lead through Estevao Willian but found themselves trailing until Alejandro Garnacho’s late strike rescued a point and avoided an embarrassing defeat for the London club.
Other results across Europe saw Manchester City thrash Borussia Dortmund 4-1, Bayer Leverkusen edge Benfica 1-0, Inter Milan defeat Kairat 2-1, and Atalanta clinch a narrow 1-0 win over Marseille.
