Veekee James Declares No Female Best Friends Allowed For Her Husband

According to Ireporter Online, Lagos-based fashion designer Veekee James has revealed her perspective on boundaries in her marriage, particularly regarding friendships with the opposite sex. Speaking on the Off the Top podcast with VJ Adams, James stated that her husband, Femi Atere, is not allowed to have a female best friend, as she believes she should remain the closest woman in his life.

James explained that this approach works for their home and contributes to maintaining peace. She emphasized, “Femi Atere can never have a female best friend, even if he does, I’ll occupy it with all of herself and her body alone.”

The designer also reflected on past online controversies, noting that she previously faced harsh criticism suggesting she had “taken” Femi from someone else. She admitted that the online backlash affected her mental health at the time, but she has since moved on.

Veekee and Femi became engaged in late 2023 and were married on February 10, 2024. The couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary earlier this year.
