Video: Tears Flow As Nollywood Actress Aunty Ajara Is Laid To Rest

Small-sized Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, widely known as Aunty Ajara, has been laid to rest, bringing an emotional close to a life many in the industry described as inspiring and selfless.

According to Ireporter Online, the late actress was buried on Thursday in line with Islamic rites, as family members, colleagues and residents of her community gathered to bid her a tearful farewell. Footage from the burial ceremony circulating on social media captured mourners standing solemnly around her grave while a Muslim cleric led prayers and final rites.

The burial marked the final journey of an actress remembered by peers and fans as humble, dedicated and hardworking, whose impact on Nollywood extended beyond her on-screen roles.

Prior to her death, Aunty Ajara had battled a prolonged illness, prompting several of her colleagues, including Wunmi Toriola, Foluke Daramola and Mama Nonetwork, to appeal to the public for financial support to aid her medical treatment.

Her passing was announced on Thursday by Nollywood actor TeeMony via an Instagram post, in which he disclosed that the actress died on February 5, 2026. He expressed gratitude to Nigerians and supporters around the world who stood by her during her illness through prayers, encouragement and donations.

In the statement, TeeMony acknowledged the overwhelming show of love extended to the late actress and urged members of the public to discontinue further financial contributions, noting that assistance was no longer needed. He also conveyed condolences to her family, friends and colleagues, praying for comfort for all who are mourning her loss and for her soul to rest in peace.
