Vigilante Group Captures Kidnapper In Jos With ₦1.5 Million Ransom And Victims
Residents of Nepa community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State have apprehended a kidnapper after he collected ₦1.5 million in ransom from the relatives of his victims.
A vigilante from Nepa shared details of the incident with Daily Trust on Thursday, explaining that the suspect was captured after attempting to flee from an unoccupied building where he was keeping two kidnapped children—aged four and five. The vigilante said the suspect was caught after local residents heard the children crying and responded to the commotion.
The kidnapper, who had collected ₦1.5 million but failed to release the children immediately, tried to escape when the crowd arrived. He was eventually captured by the community members and handed over to the local vigilante group, which then transported him to the Laranto Police Station along with the remaining ransom of ₦1,492,000.
DSP Alabor Alfred, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect is currently under investigation by the anti-kidnapping unit.
