According to Ireporter Online, chaos erupted during Nigerian superstar Davido’s “5ive Tour” concert at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu, leaving many fans furious and disappointed over what they described as a total breakdown of security.

The highly anticipated concert, held on November 1 as part of Davido’s nationwide tour, was expected to be a thrilling night of Afrobeats but instead descended into confusion and fear for thousands of attendees. The event, which reportedly drew over 40,000 people—almost double the venue’s 20,000 capacity—was marred by overcrowding, harassment, theft, and poor crowd control.

The “5ive Tour” had previously made successful stops in Akwa Ibom and Adamawa and was scheduled to continue in Ibadan and Lagos. However, the Enugu leg sparked widespread criticism as concertgoers took to social media to share harrowing experiences, alleging gross negligence by event organisers and security operatives.

Videos and posts circulating online showed distraught fans recounting how security personnel failed to control the massive crowd, leading to stampedes and assaults. Many attendees claimed their phones and valuables were stolen in the chaos, while others described scenes of physical harassment and intimidation.

One attendee lamented that the gates were breached by touts and uninvited persons after security officials abandoned their posts. Others described being groped and shoved in the overcrowded arena while Davido’s performance started several hours behind schedule.

Another eyewitness alleged that security operatives resorted to violence, using canes and tasers to control the crowd, causing panic and injuries. Some fans were reportedly rescued from the crush by sympathetic strangers who offered them aid after losing their belongings.

Social media reactions have since intensified, with fans calling out event organisers for prioritising ticket sales over safety measures. Many demanded accountability and stricter regulations for large entertainment events to ensure the safety and dignity of concertgoers.

As of press time, Davido or his management team had yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported incidents.
