Bobby Williams Adeoye, son of the late gospel singer Omije Ojumi, has opened up about his mother’s passing, revealing that he was not entirely surprised by the news. According to him, his mother frequently spoke about death during her lifetime, preparing him emotionally for the inevitable.

Speaking during a service of songs held in her honour, Williams described his mother as a devoted woman who dedicated her life to raising him and ensuring his success in all endeavors. He portrayed her as caring, kind, and remarkably strong, always encouraging him to excel both at home and in school.

Williams recounted how Omije Ojumi took a keen interest in his daily life, always eager to know how his day had gone after school. He said her constant concern and encouragement made him feel consistently loved and supported. He also highlighted her cheerful and humorous nature, noting that their home was always filled with laughter, and that her sense of humour is one of the things he misses most since her passing.

Reflecting on her death, he said: “When I heard she was dead, I was not that surprised because she had always been saying it. She cracked jokes to make everyone lively, and that’s the main reason why I also miss Mommy. I know you’re dead right now, but you will always be alive in my heart and in my dreams. I love you, Mommy. May your soul rest in peace.”

Omije Ojumi, whose real name was Bunmi Akinaanu Adeoye, passed away on January 12, 2026. Her son emphasized that, despite being prepared for the news, the pain of losing her remains profound, and she will continue to live on in his heart and memories.
