Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has reacted to claims that a reported lawsuit involving fellow actress Judy Austin has left her worried, saying she is instead looking forward to the legal proceedings.

Edochie said the court case could provide an opportunity for her to address issues she had previously chosen not to discuss publicly.

The actress made the remarks in a social media post while explaining that she had deliberately remained silent on several matters despite having opportunities to speak out.

She said she was currently more focused on celebrating May Edochie’s birthday but indicated that she was prepared to address the issues when the matter comes before the court.

Edochie questioned why she should be afraid of the legal action if the statements she had made were truthful, adding that she was willing to allow the court to determine whether her comments amounted to defamation.

“This lawsuit dey give Rita Edochie sleepless night. Mee? As how nah?” she wrote.

She added that the legal action had presented what she described as an opportunity to speak about matters she had previously kept to herself.

According to the actress, she had avoided forcing certain conversations into the public space but was now prepared to present what she knows before the appropriate authorities.

She further insisted that she would not rely on rumours or fabricated stories, but would speak about matters she had personally known, said publicly and believed could be defended before the court.

Edochie also suggested that she had more information to share, declaring that the legal proceedings had effectively given her an avenue to speak more openly.
