Wike Labels ADC Coalition Leaders as “Failed, Expired Politicians”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has lashed out at members of the opposition coalition that recently took over the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as a collection of “failed and expired politicians” with nothing meaningful to offer Nigerians.

Speaking pointedly during his monthly media chat, Wike singled out coalition leaders one by one, arguing that their records in office prove they lack the credibility to promise any real change.

Wike criticized former Senate President David Mark for declaring the coalition’s intent to “rescue Nigeria,” questioning what Mark achieved during his eight years leading the Senate.

“He was Senate President for eight years. Was Nigeria happier then? There’s not a single project in Otukpo, his hometown — he used to fly there in a helicopter. But now he says Nigerians are angry and he wants to rescue them?” Wike queried.

He also took a swipe at Mark’s political strength at home, noting that under his watch as PDP leader in his area, his own daughter contested for the House of Representatives under the APC and won.

Turning to former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Wike accused him of plunging Nigeria into massive debt through Chinese loans, while arguing that Nigerians were no happier under his stewardship.

He also berated former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika over the failed Air Nigeria project, former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami for contributing little to national security despite his powerful office, and former Speaker Aminu Tambuwal for his unimpressive record as both Speaker and Governor.

“What did Tambuwal do in his four years as Speaker or eight years as governor to make Nigerians not be angry today? What kind of politics is this?” Wike fired.

Wike further mocked former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, saying he only found refuge in the ADC after falling out with his political mentor, Senator Bukola Saraki.

He maintained that despite the coalition drama, the only party that could still pose a real challenge to President Bola Tinubu is the PDP — provided it resolves its internal issues.
