Wike Slams Atiku, David Mark: Says They Never Meant Well for PDP

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Senate President David Mark of undermining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting they never had the party’s best interest at heart.

Speaking during his monthly media chat, Wike claimed that Atiku and Mark previously attempted to take control of the PDP’s national leadership but failed in their bid.

“There’s nothing Atiku and his allies didn’t try to do to seize the national chairmanship of the PDP. We stood our ground and blocked it,” Wike declared.

He further argued that after failing to capture the party structure, they began pushing for coalitions.

“When the secretary position came up, which is the lifeline of any party, they couldn’t get it either. That’s when talk of coalition started.

“He (Atiku) is from Adamawa; why didn’t his governor back him? Why didn’t Bala Mohammed support him? We refused to let them keep playing their old games,” Wike added.

The minister also dismissed claims that he imposed Anyanwu at the national convention, stressing that Anyanwu was duly elected by party delegates.

Wike mocked Atiku’s political record, labelling him a serial defector who has jumped from the PDP to AC, then to APC, and now ADC.

“How can an elder statesman keep hopping from one party to another? What lesson does that teach your children?” Wike queried.

He described Atiku, Mark and their associates as “buccaneers and vampires” who have finally left, adding that the PDP’s resilience since 1999 has largely been thanks to steadfast support from the South-South and South-East.
