The Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation, Biodun Ajiboye, was involved in a tense exchange with a journalist from ARISE Television during a live interview on Saturday, as discussions centered on the performance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to Ireporter Online, the confrontation began when Ajiboye was asked to provide clarity on key socio-economic indicators under the current government. In response, he suggested that the journalist lacked adequate awareness of developments across the country, attributing her perspective to being confined within the studio environment. He argued that such limitations hinder a full appreciation of the administration’s efforts and ongoing changes nationwide.

Ajiboye maintained that significant progress has been made under the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, emphasizing what he described as positive transformations. However, he did not present specific data to substantiate improvements in critical areas such as life expectancy, maternal health, education, poverty reduction, and general health outcomes.

While defending the current administration, Ajiboye shifted attention to the challenges inherited from the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He attributed the nation’s economic difficulties to what he described as past fiscal mismanagement, including rising debt levels, the burden of fuel subsidies, and large-scale monetary injections into the economy. According to him, these factors contributed significantly to worsening poverty levels and broader socio-economic instability, necessitating urgent corrective measures by the present government.
