Zamfara Governor Lawal Rejects ADC’s Invitation, Declares Loyalty To PDP

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has firmly declined an appeal from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and switch allegiance to their platform.

The state chairman of the ADC, Kabiru Garba, had during a press conference in Gusau on Friday, urged Lawal to defect to the ADC, suggesting it would be in the best interest of both the state and the nation.

Garba stated, “I am calling on Governor Dauda Lawal to leave PDP and join the ADC if he truly wishes to secure his seat come 2027.”

Reacting, Lawal maintained his commitment to the PDP, stressing that the ADC had nothing significant to offer him.

Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, the governor’s Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mustafa Kaura, emphasized that Lawal had no plans to accept the ADC’s invitation.

“Governor Dauda Lawal will not accept the state ADC chairman’s call to join the party. He remains committed to the PDP and will continue to work towards its success,” Kaura said.

Addressing speculations linking former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s alleged plans to join the ADC to Lawal’s political future, Kaura added, “The Governor has consistently maintained that he will not abandon the PDP, regardless of any pressure. He is a dedicated PDP supporter for life.”
