Local Community Excited Over Modular Refinery Set To Commence In Edo State

Edo State Government in collaboration with Edo Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited are set to commence production of 6,000 barrels per day (bpd) modular refinery to be located at Ologbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
Technical Director of the project, Mr Tim Tian, said the fabrication of the refinery has been completed in China and is awaiting inspection and approval by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) before it will be shipped to the site in Nigeria.

He said the local community also has a participating interest in the project, adding that the company will also build mini LNG plant there and will capture some flared gas, which will be processed into LNG and be used as fuel to power the power plant that will be used to operate the refinery.
Reacting to the development residents have thanked the State government in partnering with AIPCC Energy Limited to see to this laudable initiative.
According to a resident, Mr Osahon Idahosa this project would attract both local and international investors to their community and would, in turn, make the state an industrial hub.
“This refinery on take-off will allow the dwellers in such areas to purchase the products at a cheaper price than what is obtainable there at present,it would bring in lots of investors and the chain reaction would be massive employment for our people and entrepreneurship will blossom, this is definitely the right step in making Edo State an industrial hub”
Others who were visibly elated thanked the administration of Obaseki for the support in making the project a reality. Mrs Joy Osayande who is a retired teacher says the project will bring about the job for the teeming youths and also create a safe environment in terms of security and the enabling environment for small scale businesses to thrive.
“God will bless EDSG and this petrol chemical company, already they have started employing our children and with the preparations on the ground, security would be guaranteed why this project takes off in December.I am happy today to witness such an industry in my locality and may God see to the success of this laudable initiative”
In a statement, the State government says the venture “will create legitimate employment opportunities thereby reducing poverty, provide job opportunities for teeming youths in the communities, facilitate the establishment of a fabrication yard as proposed by the promoters, and create the basis for expertise, professionalism and further training in the oil and gas industry.
The modular refinery is set to commence operation in December this year.
