The community of Senior Non-Academic Staff of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma received strong reassurance from the University Management in an interactive session with the Vice-Chancellor, on Tuesday 12th of March .
The interactive session was held at the Oyakhilomen Auditorium .
The Vice-Chancellor,Professor I . A . Onimawo addressing the Senior Non -Academic Staff started out by thanking Members of the Community for their presence and cheerful disposition at the meeting .
He explained the current situation as regards promotion of staff of the University and why the delay all this while,stating that indeed the 2017 and 2018 promotions are due but were delayed because there was no governing council then .
The Vice Chancellor said presently the governing council has not been able to meet due to the absence of one of the members of the council .
He assured the community that efforts are being made to hold the governing council meeting soonest ,assuring them that all is well .
Speaking further the Vice Chancellor,Professor I .A Onimawo took his time to explain to the community on the trending issue of the ASUU Chairman, Dr Igbafen and his inconsistencies in his alleged vituperation on the school management and the personality of The Vice Chancellor and his Family on the media .
Taking back the community to memory lane the Vice Chancellor,Professor Onimawo explained how The governing Council met and gave a directive for the school to resume on the 28th of January. .
He explained further that immediately after the Governing council meeting the Local ASUU chapter led by the Chairman,Dr Monday Igbafen accused the Vice Chancellor of unitarily taking the decision of re- opening the university,not stopping there the ASUU chairman alleged the school was broke hence they decided to break the national Strike .
As soon as the school was reopened the ASUU chapter immediately rose against the management of the Institution and literally declared a war with the school management .
As regards the allegations of gross misconduct bordering on sexual harassment and threatening students to have sex with him in exchange for marks the VC explained that Dr Igbafen was found culpable by the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee (SSDC) set up to review the allegations and thereafter made their recommendations .
A Copy of the report was read by the Vice Chancellor and the recommendations the panel gave in respect to the victim of the sexual abuse by Dr Igbafen .
Speaking further the VC explained the petition written by the victim‘s family to ICPC and the need for a total probe by the institution .
The school management On receipt of the petition asked for his comments. His response was found unsatisfactory. He was therefore arraigned before the SSDC. As due process demands, he was suspended from the university, pending the determination of the allegation levelled against him.
The Vice Chancellor announced that on the 26th of March is the school’s matriculation.
In conclusion Professor Onimawo said the Institution would sew uniforms for the School’s security personnel so they can be identified by all.
