Prior to his appointment, Sanusi served as the media and communications manager for Amnesty International Nigeria since 2016. Sanusi holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Bayero University Kano and a Master’s in Journalism from the University of London’s Birkbeck College. His extensive background and expertise in the field make him well-suited to drive Amnesty International Nigeria’s mission of promoting and protecting human rights in the country.

According to Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Amnesty International Nigeria, Sanusi’s appointment comes as the organization enters a new phase of growth. This growth will involve supporting and collaborating with civil society organizations, human rights defenders, and activists to advance human rights, hold perpetrators of rights violations accountable, and ensure that victims have access to justice and effective remedies. Sanusi’s experience and leadership will be crucial in driving these initiatives forward.
