BREAKING: Details Emerge As Buhari Confronts Tinubu’s Ministerial Nominee In Abuja

Buhari brought up a tweet Tijani had posted over four years ago, which he deemed non-patriotic. The tweet, made on July 21, 2019, expressed Tijani’s lack of appreciation for the Nigerian passport and the nation itself.
Senator Buhari questioned Tijani about his current stance on Nigeria and its passport. In response, Tijani, an Information Technology expert from Ogun State, expressed his strong passion for Nigeria and his commitment to its development.

He admitted that the controversial tweet had been posted in a moment of anger due to a frustrating experience with the Chinese Embassy.
Senator Ishaku Abbo from Adamawa North Senatorial District came to Tijani’s defense, explaining that the tweet stemmed from a mix of frustration and love for Nigeria. Additionally, Senator Solomon Adeola from Ogun West Senatorial District defended the nominee, attributing the tweet to youthful exuberance and urged forgiveness.
However, further scrutiny followed as Senate Minority Leader Simon Mwadkwon representing Plateau North Senatorial District presented another “non-patriotic” tweet posted by Tijani in 2021. Despite this, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti Central Senatorial District defended Tijani, stating that he was an “EndSARS protester” and that young people like him should be encouraged to contribute positively to the country.
Bamidele called on the youth to learn from Tijani’s experience, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio accepted the nominee’s apology for the tweets, acknowledging that everyone makes mistakes and emphasized the need to move forward. Akpabio asked Tijani to take a bow, implying his successful clearance for the ministerial position.
