BREAKING: Senate Clarifies Tinubu’s Letter On Niger Coup

Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that Tinubu’s letter sought the lawmakers’ approval for implementing the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) resolutions, given his role as the chairman of the organization. Akpabio made this statement after a closed-door session of the upper legislative body.

Among the resolutions reached during the session were the Senate’s condemnation of the coup and their commendation for President Tinubu and the heads of states and governments of ECOWAS for their swift response to the political crisis in Niger Republic.

The Senate leadership has been tasked with engaging further with President Tinubu on behalf of the National Assembly to find the best way to resolve the impasse in Niger Republic, considering the historically friendly relations between the two countries.

Additionally, the lawmakers are urging Tinubu to encourage other ECOWAS heads of states to explore diplomatic and political solutions to resolve the situation in Niger Republic.

Furthermore, the Senate is pledging its support to ECOWAS in resolving the political situation in Niger Republic.
