Mr. Akogu, aged 47, passed away suddenly in the early hours of Sunday, leaving the institution and its community deeply saddened by his untimely departure.

His journey at Kogi State Polytechnic began on April 4th, 2003, when he joined as a Higher Instructor. Over the years, he consistently advanced through the ranks, ultimately becoming a Senior Lecturer within the Department of Industrial Design.

His dedication and expertise led to his appointment as the Head of the Department on November 3rd, 2022.

Originally from Unyi Ogogu Village in Olamaboro Local Government of Kogi State, Mr. Akogu made significant contributions to the academic community.

According to a statement issued by the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Elder Sunday Aiyeetan, the late Mr. Akogu was recognized as a distinguished figure, a disciplined academic, and a capable team leader. He was described as a committed and resourceful educator whose unwavering dedication to the growth and development of the School of Art, Design, and Printing, particularly within the Department of Industrial Design, played a crucial role in shaping the institution into a model for nurturing young leaders.

The statement conveyed prayers for the departed to find God’s mercy, asking for forgiveness for any shortcomings and for eternal rest for his soul.

The Polytechnic community also offered prayers for strength and comfort to be extended to his family, friends, well-wishers, colleagues, and the entire Polytechnic Community as they come to terms with the irreparable loss.

Further details regarding his funeral arrangements will be communicated after consultation with his family.
