Shehu Sani Reacts As Tinubu Moves To End Dubai Visa Ban
Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, has voiced his approval of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to lift the Dubai visa ban imposed on Nigeria by the United Arab Emirates.
Sani expressed his support in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. T
he United Arab Emirates Immigration authorities had instituted a visa ban on Nigerians in October 2022, stating that all submitted applications would be rejected and fees paid would be non-refundable.
Although the Dubai authorities did not specify the reason for the ban, they announced that all applications would remain on hold until issues between the UAE government and the Nigerian government were resolved.
Senator Sani commended Tinubu’s initiative to address the Dubai Visa ban, considering it a positive development.
However, he also advised the Federal Government to closely monitor and take action against any undesirable elements within the country, in order to enhance the effectiveness of government efforts. This, he believes, will further contribute to the success of initiatives aimed at resolving such issues.
“The efforts by the FG to reach out to the UAE Government to end the Dubai Visa ban is a welcome development, but the Nigerian Government has a lot to do to checkmate the criminal activities of some of our unscrupulous citizens”, Sani stated.
He wen on to add that no responsible country will allow anyone to tarnish their hard-earned reputation, or destroy what they have built over the years.
“It took them years of hard work to build their country. No responsible country will allow such criminal activities.”
Sani stressed that bad eggs in the country must be fished out and blacklisted.
“People suspected or involved in violent crimes, drug peddling or racketeering must be stopped and blacklisted by the Nigerian Immigration Service right here.
“We need to work on ourselves first”, he concluded.
