Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a prominent contender in the upcoming Edo 2024 election, stands out for his extensive knowledge and experience across diverse fields, including farming, governance, pastoral ministry, and law. In a trending video that has garnered positive reactions, Pastor Ize-Iyamu shares his vision and plans for Edo state, earning praise from the populace.
In the heartwarming video, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, a father of four and husband to Professor Idia Ize-Iyamu, articulates the reasons behind his decision to contest the Edo election. “I am running for the governorship position for our dear state for the election that will be coming up in 2024 under the platform of the All Progressive Congress. I am doing so because I believe that we need somebody who is genuinely concerned about the development of our state,” he affirmed
Expressing his deep connection to Edo, the 63-year-old pastor emphasized his role as a major stakeholder in the state. “I see myself as a major stakeholder in this state, and I have come to realize that there is so much that can be achieved in government if only we have sincere purposeful leaders.”
He further underscored the importance of sincerity, experience, and focus in leadership, “What Edo people need is somebody who is sincere, experienced, and focused, and that is why every time I offered myself for service, I have always brought forward a blueprint, what do I want to achieve? How I have come up with a comprehensive program that I believe will bring overall development to the state.”
Differentiating himself from a mere technocrat, he added, “So what I keep telling people I don’t see myself as a technocrat, as I see myself as a believer, I am professional, I am a lawyer. A technocrat is somebody that is emotional, I am very emotional about our state, I am very concerned and passionate about the development of our state.”
Highlighting the need for holistic development, he drew a parallel with Abuja’s development. “It is not enough to just develop infrastructure; you must develop the Edo people. Edo must be developed for Edo people to enjoy it and prosper in it, and that means you must have a Governor whose outlook is totally Edo, and that’s what I stand for.”
Addressing concerns about desperation in politics, Pastor Ize-Iyamu claimed, “I keep telling people that when you genuinely want to serve, you can’t be desperate. I am not desperate; I want to serve.”
With a clear core purpose and vision, he declared, “By the grace of God, I am running because I have a clear core purpose and vision of what needs to be achieved to move our country forward to the next level. We will do it in a manner that irrespective of your senatorial district, you will be proud and happy of what we have achieved.” Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s commitment to sincerity, local identity, and comprehensive development positions him as a compelling candidate in the forthcoming Edo election.
