IGP Disu Calls Out Lagos Cops After Stop-And-Search Video Sparks Outrage
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered officers featured in a widely circulated stop-and-search video in Lagos to report to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary review. According to reports, the officers involved in the Satellite Town incident are expected to appear on Wednesday amid public concern over their conduct during the roadside operation.
In the video, which has gone viral on social media, the officers stopped a vehicle, instructed its occupants to step out, and conducted a search on one individual away from the car. The Force’s spokesman, CSP Aliyu Giwa, stated that the directive underscores the police’s commitment to accountability and professionalism.
