This marks a significant gesture, as it is the first time in a considerable period that civil servants in the state will be receiving Christmas bonuses, and the amount is more than three times the value of the nation’s minimum wage.

Governor Fubara has consistently expressed his commitment to enhancing the welfare of civil servants and prioritizing the interests of low-income earners in the state.

During the presentation of the 2024 budget proposal of N800 billion to the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Edison Ehie last week, the Governor pledged to address manpower gaps by expediting the recruitment process for staff into the civil service. Notably, Governor Fubara, the immediate past Accountant General of the state, is the first civil servant to serve as the Governor of Rivers State.
