The conflict between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, led to a split among lawmakers in the House. Twenty-seven of them defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Throughout the feud, various events unfolded, including parallel sittings, the discovery of an impeachment plot against the governor, the demolition of the Assembly complex, and a wave of resignations among pro-Wike commissioners in Fubara’s cabinet.
