BREAKING: Real Reason Why Emefiele Regained Freedom
Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has been discharged from the Kuje Correctional Center upon meeting the conditions of his bond.
The news was verified by Adamu Duza, the spokesperson for the Kuje Correctional Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, on Saturday, December 23.
He said: “I can confirm to you that he (Emefiele) has met his bail conditions, hence he has no reason to remain in our facility.
“He met his bail condition and was released past 2pm yesterday (Friday).”
Godwin Emefiele, facing charges of alleged procurement fraud, was granted bail in the sum of N300 million by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.

Justice Hamza Muazu approved the bail with two sureties providing like sums. The sureties were required to possess titles and certificates of occupancy for properties situated in Abuja’s Maitama District. Emefiele was also mandated to reside within the Abuja Municipal Area Council and surrender all his travel documents to the court registrar.
Despite the bail grant, the judge ordered that Emefiele remain in the Kuje Correctional Centre until he fulfills the bail conditions.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) opposed Emefiele’s bail application, contending that he might be a flight risk and could pose a threat to national security or compromise the investigation if released on bail. However, Justice Muazu rejected these arguments.
The trial, centered on six counts related to procurement fraud amounting to N1.2 billion, is set to commence on November 28.
