Ex-IPMAN Chairman ‘Exposes’ What Is Currently Happening At Port Harcourt Refinery

Dr. Joseph Obele, the former Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Rivers State, has announced the successful completion of the first phase of the rehabilitation at the Port Harcourt Refinery.

Currently, the facility is undergoing a test run under the oversight of Obele’s association, which was responsible for its management during his tenure.

When contacted for comments on the progress, Obele stated, “Test run in progress.”

The December completion deadline set by the Federal Government has sparked controversy within the oil industry, with various stakeholders expressing strong reservations about the feasibility of meeting this target. During a visit to the refinery, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), assured Nigerians that the first phase of the rehabilitation work would be concluded by December 2023.
