Dollar To Naira Today: ₦1,430/$1 — August 31, 2026
The Nigerian naira recorded a notable gap between the official foreign exchange market and the parallel market as traders quoted the United States dollar at different rates on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
According to Ireporter Online, operators in the Lagos Parallel Market sold one US dollar for ₦1,405 and bought it at ₦1,390 on Sunday, based on information obtained from Bureau De Change (BDC) sources.
The latest figures indicate that individuals looking to sell their dollars through the parallel market could receive about ₦1,390 for every $1, while those seeking to purchase the currency would pay approximately ₦1,405 per dollar.
Meanwhile, the official exchange rate remained lower, with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rate ranging between ₦1,335 and ₦1,339 to the dollar.
The CBN does not recognise the parallel or black market as an official foreign exchange market and has continued to advise Nigerians seeking foreign exchange to conduct their transactions through authorised financial institutions.
Market participants, however, note that exchange rates in the parallel market are subject to frequent changes depending on demand, supply and prevailing market conditions. As a result, the rates quoted may differ from those available at the time of an actual transaction.
