The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Eid ul Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, the declaration was announced on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The minister extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and those in the diaspora as they prepare to observe the annual religious occasion.

Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to use the celebration as an opportunity to reflect on values associated with the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly compassion, humility and service to humanity.

The minister urged citizens, irrespective of religious affiliation, to reflect on the significance of the occasion and promote peaceful coexistence, unity and mutual respect.
