President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has praised the administration’s efforts in tackling insurgency, claiming that the country could have faced a far worse security situation without the President’s interventions.

According to Ireporter Online, Bwala made the remarks on Thursday during an interview with Eagle 102.5 FM in Ilese-Ijebu, Abeokuta, while discussing the security challenges confronting Nigeria and the wider Sahel region.

The presidential aide argued that the rapid spread of terrorist groups across the Sahel has intensified the security threats facing Nigeria, particularly along the country’s northern borders.

Bwala maintained that the movement of extremist groups and other armed organisations within the region had increased pressure on Nigeria’s security architecture and created the possibility of further attacks across the country.

He said the Tinubu administration had responded through a combination of security interventions, military operations and cooperation with international partners.

Bwala stated, “The God of heaven that we serve is a witness. Were it not for the various interventions of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria would have become a sorry state security-wise.”

He further argued that the presence and activities of terrorist groups in the Sahel represented a major regional threat that required a coordinated response from affected countries.

According to him, the government’s security efforts have helped prevent extremist groups from taking control of larger territories, even though isolated attacks continue to occur in some parts of the country.

Bwala acknowledged that insecurity remains a serious concern, particularly in some local government areas, but insisted that the overall security situation should also be assessed against the government’s counter-terrorism efforts.

He said the Federal Government alone could not resolve every security challenge across the country and urged state and local governments to play a more active role.

The presidential aide called on governors to strengthen cooperation with security agencies and take proactive measures to address threats within their respective jurisdictions.
