Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over his recent meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to reports, Davido visited Wike at his Abuja residence on Thursday alongside his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, days after the Osun State governorship election.

The meeting came amid controversies surrounding the election, including allegations of violence and clashes during the electoral process.

A video shared on social media showed Davido and Wike having a conversation about the outcome of the Osun governorship election, prompting reactions from Sowore.

Reacting to the development, the activist questioned Davido’s decision to meet with Wike shortly after the election, particularly in view of the reported violence associated with the poll.

In a post on his X account, Sowore accused Nigerian political actors and their associates of prioritising personal interests over broader public concerns.

He also criticised what he described as Davido’s decision to publicly associate with Wike despite the controversies surrounding the election.

Sowore argued that political actors who frequently engage in public confrontations can quickly set aside their differences when their interests align.

The activist further described such politicians as political opportunists who, according to him, often conceal their real interests from the public.

His comments have since generated reactions among Nigerians on social media, with the controversy highlighting the growing intersection between entertainment, politics and public affairs in Nigeria.
