NYSC Hails Lawal As Corps Members Celebrate 150% Pay Boost

According to reports, the commendation was delivered by the Zamfara State NYSC Coordinator, Muhammad Lawan Ahmed, during the 2026 Corps Employers’ Workshop held in Gusau on Wednesday.

Ahmed highlighted the state government’s welfare initiatives, noting that corps members serving in various ministries currently receive an additional monthly allowance of ₦20,000, while medical doctors deployed to the state benefit from allowances of up to ₦150,000.

He stated that the interventions have positioned Zamfara among the states providing strong support for corps members’ welfare, safety, and overall service experience.

The NYSC coordinator encouraged employers of corps members across the state to prioritize better working conditions and provide adequate welfare packages to enhance productivity and comfort during the service year.

The workshop, themed “Fine-tuning Stakeholders’ Collaboration to Enhance Corps Members’ Welfare and Workplace Experience,” brought together NYSC officials, government representatives, private sector employers, security agencies, and other stakeholders involved in the deployment and supervision of corps members.

Ahmed explained that the forum was designed to address challenges affecting corps members and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders responsible for their welfare and security.

He further called for improved cooperation between the NYSC, local government authorities, traditional institutions, and security agencies to ensure the safety and effective deployment of corps members across Zamfara State.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Tasiu Musa Shinkafi, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to protecting and supporting corps members as part of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration’s Rescue Agenda.
