The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have announced a one-time ₦4,000 fee for candidates seeking to verify their WAEC O’Level results for admission into tertiary institutions.

According to reports, the two examination bodies disclosed the arrangement in a joint statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as part of measures to streamline the verification of candidates’ O’Level results during the admission process.

Under the new arrangement, candidates whose admissions are being processed through JAMB will verify their WAEC results through the JAMB platform after paying the ₦4,000 fee.

Once the verification is completed, the verified result will be made available to the candidate’s chosen tertiary institution for admission screening and other related processes.

JAMB and WAEC clarified that the payment is a one-time charge and does not apply separately to every institution to which a candidate submits an application.

The examination bodies also directed tertiary institutions to rely on verified results transmitted through JAMB when screening candidates, processing admissions and carrying out other administrative activities.

They further stated that candidates should not be asked to make another payment for the same verification exercise.

The statement noted, “Tertiary institutions are to utilise the verified results shared by JAMB for screening, processing candidate admission and other administrative purposes. Candidates shall not be required to pay for another verification.”

The new system is part of JAMB’s efforts to enable candidates to upload and verify their O’Level results remotely, allowing them to complete the process from home or any location with internet access.

The arrangement is expected to simplify the admission process while reducing the need for candidates to undergo repeated verification of the same WAEC results at different institutions.
