They Found Me Alive’ – Pat Utomi Recounts Sh*cking Near-D**th Experience

Former presidential candidate and political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, has recounted a terrifying near-death experience in which doctors reportedly believed he had died following a serious road accident near Asaba.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred about 35 years ago and claimed the life of Utomi’s driver, while leaving the renowned economist critically injured.

Utomi said he was rushed to Boromeo Hospital in Onitsha, where medical personnel reportedly informed the Chief of Surgery that there was little they could do for him.

According to his account, doctors said he had no pulse and was not breathing, leading them to believe that he had died.

However, the Chief of Surgery reportedly refused to give up and insisted that efforts should continue despite the seemingly hopeless situation.

Utomi said the medical team eventually discovered that he was still alive and immediately proceeded with surgery to stop internal bleeding caused by the accident.

“Against all expectations, they found me alive and proceeded with surgery to stop the internal bleeding caused by an accident near Asaba the night before,” Utomi recalled.

He said the experience has made July a particularly significant month for his family, as they use the period to offer thanksgiving for his survival.

Utomi also recalled another life-threatening experience when he survived the July 7, 2005, terrorist attacks in London.

The attacks, which targeted London’s transport system, resulted in the deaths of dozens of people and left hundreds of others injured.

Reflecting on both experiences, the former presidential candidate said they had strengthened his faith and reinforced his belief in the importance of gratitude.

Looking back on his survival, Utomi expressed gratitude to God, maintaining that his experiences had reminded him of the value of faith and thanksgiving.
