I Will Annihilate You’ — Speed Darlington Renews Attack On Burna Boy

Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington has reignited his long-running feud with Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy ahead of his celebrity boxing clash with content creator Carter Efe.

The bout is scheduled to take place on October 1 as part of the upcoming Chaos in the Ring boxing event, which will also feature a heavyweight contest between Nigerian boxer Godday “Zodsolo” Appah and UK-based Ghanaian fighter Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.

According to Ireporter Online, Speed Darlington, also known as Speedy, renewed his criticism of Burna Boy during the press conference for the event on Thursday, September 10.

The entertainer challenged Burna Boy to a boxing match, declaring that he would be willing to fight the singer without payment while reiterating his longstanding animosity towards him.

Speed Darlington also made a series of aggressive remarks directed at Burna Boy, including a threat to seriously harm the singer if they ever met in the ring.

His latest comments have brought renewed attention to the dispute between both entertainers, which has previously involved social media exchanges, a police complaint, an arrest and legal proceedings.

The feud escalated in late 2024 after Speed Darlington made social media posts questioning Burna Boy’s relationship with American music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs and raised questions about Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning album Twice As Tall.

Burna Boy subsequently petitioned the police, according to reports, leading to Speed Darlington’s arrest in Lagos over allegations including defamation and cyberstalking. He spent several weeks in detention before his release.

Following his release, Speed Darlington continued making public comments about the singer and later released a diss track titled Baby Oil, which was directed at Burna Boy.

The entertainer also urged members of the public to stop listening to Burna Boy’s music as their dispute continued to generate attention online.

The matter later reached the courts after Speed Darlington’s legal team filed a ₦300 million fundamental rights lawsuit against the Inspector-General of Police over his detention.

His latest remarks come as he prepares for his October 1 celebrity boxing contest against Carter Efe, who defeated Portable in May.

Speed Darlington, meanwhile, will be seeking his first victory in celebrity boxing after losing his previous bout to Portable.

The press conference also featured fresh controversy involving Carter Efe and fellow streamer Peller.

Carter Efe accused Peller of hacking his account, reviving an online dispute between the two entertainers that has involved allegations and counter-allegations over their relationship and social media activities.

The controversy intensified following the permanent removal of Carter Efe’s TikTok account, which reportedly had more than 5.6 million followers.

Peller had previously denied being directly responsible for the ban, although an older video surfaced showing him asking followers to report Carter Efe’s account. He instead attributed the action to Carter Efe’s activities during livestreams.

Away from the celebrity contests, the October 1 event will feature a heavyweight clash between Godday “Zodsolo” Appah and Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.

Godday has predicted an early knockout victory over Freezy, while the Ghanaian fighter has said he has studied his Nigerian opponent and identified areas he intends to exploit.

Other professional bouts on the card include Ezra Arenyeka against Lekan Muibi, Basit “Joker Boy” Adebayo against Fatiu Ijomoni, and Yusuf Adeniji against David Tagoe.

Balmoral Promotions executive chairman, Dr Ezekiel Adamu, said the promotion aims to use existing celebrity rivalries to create entertaining matchups while gradually positioning Nigeria as a major destination for international boxing.

Adamu said the event is also part of a broader effort to showcase African boxing talent and attract bigger international fights to Nigeria.

He described the Godday-Freezy contest as a major attraction, while also highlighting the participation of young Nigerian fighters on the card.

The Chaos in the Ring event is scheduled for October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
