2027: ‘Tinubu Deserves Re-Election’ — Sanwo-Olu Urges Lagos Residents
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged traditional rulers, political leaders and residents of Ikorodu to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
According to Ireporter Online, Sanwo-Olu made the call on Thursday during a meeting with traditional rulers and political leaders in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State.
The meeting, held at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division and Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, was attended by Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat, APC leaders, members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), traditional rulers and other political stakeholders.
Also present was the APC deputy governorship candidate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James, alongside Lagos APC Chairman Pastor Cornelious Ojelabi and other public office holders from the division.
Sanwo-Olu said Tinubu’s performance in Lagos and across Nigeria had demonstrated why the President deserved another term in office.
He urged residents to campaign for Tinubu’s re-election and support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 elections.
“Development has transformed Lagos. We can see what the President has done in Lagos State and elsewhere in Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He added that Tinubu deserved to be re-elected based on his performance, urging the people to work towards securing victory for the President in 2027.
The Lagos governor also challenged residents of Ikorodu to fulfil their pledge of delivering 250,000 votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates during the election.
Sanwo-Olu further declared his support for Hamzat’s bid to succeed him as governor of Lagos State, saying he would work towards securing victory for his deputy.
“I will work for the victory of Dr Obafemi Hamzat as my successor. Let us get him elected as the next governor of Lagos State,” he said.
Hamzat, on his part, called on traditional rulers, political leaders, APC members and residents of Ikorodu to participate actively in the 2027 elections and vote for all APC candidates.
He described Tinubu’s re-election as important to sustaining the administration’s reform and development agenda, while praising the President’s leadership and experience.
The meeting further underscored the APC’s efforts to strengthen its political structure in Lagos ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders seeking strong support from the Ikorodu Division.
