Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE is set to open its Initial Public Offering on Monday, September 14, 2026, giving Nigerians and other eligible investors an opportunity to acquire shares in the company.

According to Ireporter Online, the public offer comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares priced at ₦525 per share, with the company targeting approximately ₦2.15 trillion through the exercise.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has approved the offer, which is being coordinated by Vetiva Advisory Services Limited. The subscription period is expected to run from September 14 to October 13, 2026.

Investors can subscribe for a minimum of 10 shares, meaning prospective shareholders can begin with an investment of ₦5,250.

Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, signed the offer documents alongside advisers and issuing houses at a ceremony held at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, on September 7.

Dangote said part of the funds raised would be used to support the expansion of the refinery, with plans to increase its processing capacity to about 1.4 million barrels of crude oil per day.

He described the offering as an IPO designed to give ordinary Nigerians an opportunity to own a stake in the business, noting that people from different walks of life should be able to participate.

For prospective investors who are unfamiliar with the Nigerian capital market, the following are the major steps to take.

First, investors need to open an account with a stockbroker licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Nigerian Exchange. Those without an existing brokerage account will typically be required to provide identification and other Know-Your-Customer information during registration.

Second, investors need a Central Securities Clearing System account. Shares purchased on the Nigerian capital market are held electronically through the CSCS. A stockbroker will generally assist new investors with opening and linking the account to their brokerage account.

Third, prospective investors must complete the necessary verification and compliance checks required by their chosen stockbroker before the account can be activated for transactions. Requirements may differ between brokers.

Fourth, investors should fund their brokerage accounts with the amount they intend to invest. At the offer price of ₦525 per share, the minimum subscription of 10 shares will cost ₦5,250. Those seeking to purchase more shares should consult the final offer documents for the applicable subscription conditions and increments.

Fifth, investors should carefully confirm the official details of the offer before submitting applications. The subscription is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026, and investors are advised to rely on the final prospectus and information released through authorised capital-market channels.

Sixth, applications should be submitted only through approved channels, including participating stockbrokers and any other platforms specifically authorised under the offer documents. Investors should verify the legitimacy of any platform or individual requesting payment before transferring funds.

Seventh, investors should understand that applying for a particular number of shares does not necessarily guarantee that they will receive the entire quantity requested. If the offer is oversubscribed, shares may be allotted according to the procedure contained in the prospectus, while funds relating to unallotted shares are expected to be handled in line with the offer terms.

Finally, investors who receive shares should monitor their holdings after the company is listed on the Nigerian Exchange. The market value of the shares may rise or fall after listing depending on demand, the company’s financial performance, market conditions and broader economic factors.

Prospective investors are therefore advised to study the official offer documents carefully and seek professional advice where necessary before committing their funds.
