Political Thugs Attack Rivers NDC Office, Destroy Billboards, Campaign Materials

Campaign billboards, banners and other signages belonging to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have reportedly been destroyed following a suspected attack on the party’s secretariat in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred overnight at the NDC secretariat in Emohua Town, the headquarters of the local government area.

The attackers were said to have destroyed several campaign materials displayed at the building, including large billboards, banners and other party signages.

Confirming the development, the NDC House of Representatives candidate for Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency, Fugbara Ohaka, condemned the attack and warned against allowing political disagreements to degenerate into violence, intimidation and the destruction of property.

Ohaka appealed to party members and supporters to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding, stressing that the NDC would not be provoked into taking the law into its own hands.

He called on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible for the destruction of the party’s property are identified and brought to justice.

Meanwhile, another NDC candidate, Adefolaseye Adebayo, has accused the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) of selectively removing her campaign materials from different locations in Lagos State.

Adebayo, who is contesting for the Surulere Federal Constituency I seat, alleged that the removal of her campaign banners began shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission opened the campaign period for the 2027 elections.

She claimed that while her campaign materials were allegedly being removed, those belonging to the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress were left untouched.

According to her, some of her supporters contacted her after allegedly witnessing LASAA officials removing her campaign banners from various locations across the constituency.

The incidents have raised fresh concerns over the safety of campaign materials and allegations of intimidation as political activities continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
