Kwankwaso Fires At Atiku: ‘Tell Him To Focus On His Traditional Title’

The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to reconsider his ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election, citing concerns about his age and health.

According to Ireporter Online, Kwankwaso made the appeal on Monday during a meeting with members of the Fulani Farmers Association at his residence in Abuja.

Kwankwaso, who is the running mate of the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, urged the association’s members to convey his message to Atiku, asking the former vice-president to step aside from the 2027 presidential race.

The former Kano State governor suggested that Atiku should concentrate on his traditional responsibilities as the Wazirin Adamawa rather than pursuing another presidential ambition.

Speaking during the meeting, Kwankwaso described Atiku as an elder statesman and maintained that his age and health should be taken into consideration ahead of the 2027 election.

He also assured the former vice-president that he would receive adequate support if the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket emerged victorious in the presidential election.

Kwankwaso reportedly said that the message should be delivered to Atiku in Fulani, asking him to focus on his traditional title and other responsibilities.

Atiku has remained one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures and has made several attempts to become the country’s president over the years.

He contested presidential elections in 2007, 2019 and 2023, while also pursuing presidential tickets on different political platforms at various stages of his political career.

The former vice-president, who is expected to turn 81 in 2027, had earlier indicated that the 2027 presidential election would be his final attempt to become Nigeria’s president.
