Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has revealed that legal action was taken against a man who allegedly circulated false information online claiming that the singer and his family had lost their daughter, Adejare Kosoko.

According to Ireporter Online, Adekunle Gold discussed the incident during an appearance on the One 54 Podcast, where he explained why he chose to report the matter to the authorities rather than confront the individual personally.

The singer said he is accustomed to public scrutiny and criticism because of his career and can tolerate people making comments about him.

However, he maintained that his daughter should not be dragged into such matters, particularly through the spread of false information about her death.

Adekunle Gold said he reported the matter to the relevant authorities after coming across the false claim, after which the case was taken to court.

According to the singer, the court subsequently sentenced the man to two years in prison or gave him the option of paying a fine.

He explained that he deliberately followed the legal process instead of attempting to locate or physically confront the individual responsible for the publication.

Adekunle Gold said the incident generated significant reactions online after details of the court proceedings became known.

He also expressed concern about the growing spread of unverified information on social media, noting that celebrities sometimes encounter reports about themselves that are completely unfamiliar to them.

The singer argued that the situation demonstrated the need for some form of regulation to address the volume of false and misleading information circulating online.

He said people can easily encounter fabricated reports about public figures and even begin questioning whether events described in such reports actually happened.

Adekunle Gold’s comments come amid growing concerns over the use of social media platforms to circulate false claims about celebrities, public figures and their families.

The singer maintained that although he has accepted the scrutiny that comes with being a public figure, he would continue to use appropriate legal channels when false claims cross the line and involve his family.
