I Prayed For Adeleke’s Victory’ — Davido’s Dad Reveals

Businessman Deji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star Davido, has revealed that he was confident his younger brother, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, would emerge victorious in the state’s recently concluded governorship election.

According to Ireporter Online, Deji Adeleke disclosed that he privately prayed and fasted for his brother throughout the election period, saying he never doubted that Ademola would secure victory.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party winner of the August 15, 2026 governorship election after he defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in a video shared on social media on Monday, Deji explained that he deliberately kept his prayers and fasting private, choosing not to discuss them with anyone.

He said his confidence in his brother’s victory was rooted in his faith, adding that he regularly prayed for Ademola’s protection and success.

According to him, he believed that no amount of political influence, money or government backing could prevent the governor from winning the election if it was God’s will.

Deji maintained that he drew strength from his belief in God and prayed that divine protection would remain upon the governor throughout the electoral process.

He also dismissed the influence of political opponents, insisting that their resources and connections could not override God’s will.

The businessman said he believed Ademola would overcome every challenge placed before him and ultimately secure victory at the polls.

His comments come after the governor successfully retained his position for another four years, defeating the APC candidate in a closely contested election.
