Rivers Police Launch Probe After Gunmen K!ll LG Chairman’s Aide

The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the killing of Phillip Barikui, a protocol aide to the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, and another unidentified man in Bori, Rivers State.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred on Monday along Makoro Street in Bori, where unidentified gunmen reportedly opened fire on the victims before fleeing the scene.

Barikui was killed during the attack, while the second victim sustained serious gunshot injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Bori for treatment. He reportedly died while receiving medical attention.

Following the incident, the police launched an investigation aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the attack and identifying those responsible.

The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, urged anyone with relevant information that could assist the investigation to approach the police and help authorities apprehend the suspects.

The latest incident has heightened security concerns in Khana Local Government Area, particularly in Bori, where similar attacks have recently been reported.

The development comes about two weeks after the killing of Letam Kinee, popularly known as Langa, an appointee and member of the Khana Local Government Area Sanitation Committee.

Kinee was reportedly killed along the Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic Road in Bori, further raising concerns over the security situation in the area.
