A US-based Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after expressing frustration with life in the United States and saying she misses the lively and often chaotic atmosphere associated with Nigeria.

According to IReporter Online, the woman made the comments in a viral video, where she said she was tired of living abroad and described her surroundings in the US as too quiet and boring.

She expressed a desire to return to Nigeria, particularly stating that she missed the presence of “Agbero,” a term commonly used in Nigeria to describe informal transport workers and touts.

“I want to go back to Nigeria, I’m tired of abroad, I swear. This place is too quiet. It’s too boring. I miss Agbero. I swear,” she said.

Her remarks quickly generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users suggesting that she was genuinely homesick, while others believed she could simply be creating content for attention.

Some Nigerians reminded her that returning home would also mean facing some of the challenges associated with life in Nigeria, including poor infrastructure, power supply issues, high fuel prices, insecurity and traffic congestion.

One social media user jokingly suggested that although she missed Agbero, she might not necessarily miss the difficulties that come with living in Nigeria.

Another commenter encouraged her to return but warned that she should be prepared for the realities of life in the country, including long traffic jams and frequent power outages.

Others questioned the sincerity of her statement, arguing that Nigerians who genuinely want to return home do not necessarily need to announce their intentions on social media.

The woman’s comments have nevertheless reignited the familiar debate among Nigerians in the diaspora over whether life abroad, despite its advantages, can sometimes lack the social interaction, excitement and familiar environment associated with home.
