Tinubu Announces Rescue Of 308 Kidnap Victims In Massive Security Operation

According to Ireporter Online, the rescue was carried out through a coordinated intelligence-led operation involving multiple security agencies and has been described by the Presidency as the largest same-day rescue mission ever conducted by a joint security team.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was disclosed that 163 of the rescued victims were kidnapped from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while the remaining 145 victims were rescued from locations in Niger State.

The victims were reportedly freed from the Kainji Lake National Park Forest in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State during a coordinated operation led by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC), with support from personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force.

President Tinubu commended the security agencies for their professionalism, courage and effective collaboration, noting that the success of the mission reflects the growing strength of intelligence-driven security operations in the country.

He praised the officers involved for their dedication to protecting lives and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity across Nigeria.

The Presidency further disclosed that the rescued victims are currently receiving first aid and medical attention at the medical facility within Wawa Cantonment before being handed over to the governments of Kwara and Niger states for rehabilitation and reunification with their families.

President Tinubu also directed security agencies to intensify efforts aimed at preventing future abductions by strengthening early warning systems, improving intelligence gathering at the community level and enhancing rapid response capabilities nationwide.

The President assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to eliminating security threats, safeguarding vulnerable communities and restoring lasting peace across every part of the country.
