Police Shake-Up: New CPs Posted To Rivers, Delta, Abia, Others

According to Ireporter Online, the Commission also confirmed the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State.

The latest appointments were disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commission’s spokesperson, Torty Njoku.

Under the new postings, Commissioner of Police Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo, who previously served in the Administration, Training and Development Department, has been assigned to head the Abia State Command.

Commissioner of Police Ayodeji Faniyan, formerly in charge of Administration at the Police Cooperative in Lagos, has been deployed to Plateau State, while CP Saka Adewale Ajao, who served at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe, will now oversee the Bayelsa State Command.

The Commission also posted CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, formerly with INTERPOL Abuja, to Cross River State, while CP Nnanna Oji Ama has been appointed Commissioner of Police for Anambra State.

In addition, CP Patrick Daaor has been deployed to Edo State, CP Tijani Murtala takes charge of the Jigawa State Command, and CP Samuel Erale Etaifo has been assigned to Delta State.

The PSC further announced the appointment of AIG Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, describing him as a seasoned officer with more than three decades of experience in policing, investigations, intelligence-led operations and training.

The Commission noted that Mohammed holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University. Throughout his career, he has served as Commandant of the Police College in Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing Zones 3 and 6. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

According to the Commission, the latest postings were necessitated by the recent promotion of several Commissioners of Police and are intended to address operational needs while reinforcing effective policing across the affected state commands.
