Police Launch Probe After Businessman Is Allegedly Sh*t By Soldiers In Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into allegations that a businessman was shot by military personnel during an encounter in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state.
According to Ireporter Online, the matter was reported to the police on August 3, 2026, by Muslim Abubakar, a resident of Yelwa Ward in Mubi North, who alleged that his younger brother, Suleiman Abubakar, sustained a gunshot injury during an incident involving soldiers the previous night.
Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development in a statement, stating that officers responded immediately after receiving the report and visited the scene of the alleged incident.
The police disclosed that the victim was provided with urgent medical attention after the encounter and was first taken to a healthcare facility in Mubi before being transferred to a medical centre in Yola for further treatment.
Following the report, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Hassan, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The command stated that the investigation would focus on establishing the facts of the case and determining the events that led to the businessman sustaining the injury.
The police also revealed that contact had been made with relevant military authorities to ensure cooperation and support throughout the investigation process.
While assuring residents that the matter would be handled professionally and transparently, the command urged members of the public to remain calm and provide any useful information that could assist investigators.
The development comes amid ongoing concerns over allegations of misconduct and excessive use of force involving security personnel in some parts of the country, with authorities repeatedly calling for accountability and proper investigation of such cases.
