Kwankwaso, NDC Candidates Meet Peter Obi At Obidient HQ

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, have met with the party’s governorship, senatorial and other candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held at the Obidient Movement Headquarters in Abuja, focused on strategies to strengthen the party’s presence across the country and expand its reach ahead of the elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Obi said discussions centred on taking the NDC’s message of “national redemption” beyond major cities and into rural communities and other hinterlands across Nigeria.

The former Anambra State governor also assured the candidates of his continued support, pledging to work closely with them and participate in activities aimed at securing electoral victories for the party in their respective states and constituencies.

Obi described his partnership with Kwankwaso as an effort to rescue Nigeria from what he characterised as ineffective and damaging leadership.

He said the partnership was also aimed at promoting national unity and transforming Nigeria’s economy from one largely driven by consumption to one focused on production.

The NDC presidential candidate further outlined some of the priorities he said would form part of his administration’s agenda if elected in 2027.

According to him, the proposed focus areas include lifting vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty, reducing the number of children out of school, strengthening small and medium-sized businesses and improving national security.

Obi urged NDC candidates and supporters to intensify their grassroots mobilisation, particularly in rural communities, as the party continues its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The meeting comes as political parties and their candidates increasingly intensify their campaigns, consultations and grassroots engagement ahead of the next general elections.
