Tragedy in Nollywood: Actress Atinuke Kareem D!es

Yoruba Nollywood actress, Atinuke Remilekun Kareem, popularly known as Atinuke Kareem, has died following a prolonged battle with breast cancer.

Reports indicate that the actress passed away about four months after appealing to members of the public for financial assistance towards her medical treatment.

The news of her death was announced on Tuesday by the President of the Ogun State chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Owolabi Ajasa.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Ajasa expressed appreciation to individuals who supported the late actress financially, as well as those who offered prayers, encouragement and other forms of assistance during her illness.

According to Ajasa, the support received during Kareem’s difficult period meant a great deal to her family and colleagues. He, however, said that despite the efforts made to aid her treatment and the prayers offered on her behalf, the actress eventually passed away.

He described her death as a painful loss and urged her family, colleagues and loved ones to accept the situation while seeking strength to cope with the bereavement.

Ajasa also prayed for the peaceful repose of the late actress, while thanking everyone who stood by her during her illness.

The death of Atinuke Kareem has since thrown colleagues and admirers into mourning, with tributes expected to continue as members of the Yoruba movie industry remember the actress and her contributions to Nollywood.
