Seun Kuti Breaks Silence On Viral Wedding Exit Controversy
Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has addressed reports claiming that he angrily walked out of the traditional wedding ceremony of Nigerian TikTok stars Jarvis and Peller in Lagos.
According to Ireporter Online, Seun Kuti explained that his decision to leave the event was not due to any disagreement or controversy, contrary to reports circulating online.
The reports had alleged that the singer left the ceremony after an MC reportedly compared Grammy-winning artiste Wizkid with Seun’s late father, Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
A viral video showing Seun Kuti moving through the decorated wedding venue with two companions before exiting the hall further fueled speculation that he was unhappy with an incident at the event.
However, reacting to the claims in a video shared online alongside Fuji musician Malaika, Seun clarified that he left the wedding because he needed to visit the Shrine, adding that bloggers misinterpreted the situation.
The singer questioned why his departure was portrayed negatively, stating that leaving an event does not necessarily mean someone is angry or unhappy.
He said the reports created a false impression and suggested that some people expected him to leave the ceremony in a particular manner rather than simply moving on with his plans.
Meanwhile, comedian and actor Gbadamosi Jonathan, popularly known as MC Edo Pikin, has reacted to the controversy, disputing claims that any MC at the wedding compared Wizkid and Fela Kuti.
In a video shared online, MC Edo Pikin described the allegation as inaccurate, explaining that the comments made during the ceremony were actually directed at praising Seun Kuti.
The comedian advised that situations should be properly verified before conclusions are drawn, urging people to exercise patience when reacting to events.
