President Bola Tinubu has appointed Yakubu Jang, son of former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, as a Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President.

According to Ireporter Online, the appointment was announced on Saturday in Jos during the 80th birthday celebration and public presentation of the autobiography of the former Plateau governor.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu at the event, conveyed the President’s goodwill message and officially disclosed Yakubu Jang’s appointment.

Shettima explained that the decision reflects the administration’s commitment to bringing competent individuals into government while ensuring broader representation in national leadership.

The announcement was greeted with applause from guests at the ceremony, which was held at the Tamarald Event Centre in Jos.

The occasion drew several prominent personalities, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, serving and former governors, federal and state government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders and other distinguished guests.

The appointment coincided with the celebration of Jonah Jang’s 80th birthday, where tributes were paid to his contributions to Nigeria’s public service.

Jang’s career has spanned several decades, during which he served in the Nigerian Air Force, held office as a military administrator, governed Plateau State for two terms and later represented the state in the Senate.

As part of the celebration, the former governor also unveiled his autobiography titled Airman to Politics: My Life, a publication that chronicles his transition from military service into politics and his experiences in public office.
