Ogogo’s Burial Details Released As Family Announces Final Rites

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24, 2026.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, the actor’s death was confirmed by fellow veteran Jide Kosoko, who disclosed that Ogogo died at about 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, at the age of 66.

Kosoko stated that the late actor’s remains would be transported to Ilaro on Sunday ahead of a lying-in-state ceremony scheduled for Monday.

The ceremony is expected to take place at the Pavilion in Ilaro at 11:00 a.m., according to the details released by Kosoko.

He expressed sadness over the death and prayed for strength and comfort for Ogogo’s family, friends, colleagues and other loved ones.

Meanwhile, Best of Nollywood founder, Seun Oloketuyi, shared an announcement from the Ilaro Muslim Community confirming arrangements for the actor’s burial prayer.

According to the announcement, the burial prayer will take place at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro by 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

The Muslim community described Ogogo as a beloved member of the community and extended prayers for the repose of his soul.

The veteran actor’s death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the entertainment industry, following reports that he had been battling cancer.

Ogogo was widely respected for his contributions to Yoruba-language cinema and his decades-long career in the Nigerian film industry.

His burial in Ilaro is expected to draw family members, colleagues, friends, fans and other mourners who will gather to pay their final respects to the veteran actor.
