Tope Osoba’s Lover, Hairdresser Arrested Over Actress’ D**th
The lover of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, has reportedly been arrested as authorities intensify investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The man, identified as Prophet Itunu, was reportedly taken into police custody on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, alongside a yet-to-be-identified hairdresser.
According to IREPORTERONLINE, the development followed growing calls from the actress’ friends, associates and members of the public for authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Tope Osoba died on August 4, 2026, about two years after reportedly surviving breast cancer. Her death subsequently generated controversy after some of her close associates raised allegations against Itunu and members of his family.
The associates alleged that the actress had been influenced to move in with Itunu despite not being formally married to him and that her relationship with some members of her family and colleagues had become strained.
Some of her friends also accused the prophet of allegedly bullying the actress, taking control of some of her financial resources and a vehicle, as well as restricting her interactions with colleagues and friends.
Several chats and voice notes were subsequently shared online by individuals who claimed they supported the allegations.
Amid the controversy, the actress’ family reportedly postponed her burial indefinitely to allow the police to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Itunu, however, has denied the allegations against him. In an interview with Celestial Reality Check, a media investigative platform of the Celestial Church of Christ, he claimed that Tope approached him about marriage after visiting his church for prayers.
The prophet also alleged that the actress battled drug addiction, saying he only became aware of the alleged problem after their relationship had progressed.
He said he lacked the financial resources to take her to a rehabilitation facility after discovering the alleged addiction.
The reported arrest was announced by one of the actress’ associates and online personality, Akeem, popularly known as Oko Awon Single Mother, in an Instagram video.
Akeem claimed that Itunu and the hairdresser were being detained by the police, while another man identified as Pelumi, who was allegedly accused of raping the actress, remained at large.
He expressed hope that the investigation would lead to justice for the late actress and commended the police and members of the public for responding to calls for an investigation.
Akeem also disclosed that an autopsy would be conducted as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding Tope Osoba’s death.
The reported arrests and planned autopsy are expected to provide further information as investigations into the controversial death continue.
