Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, has warned Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, against returning to the state to perform.

Chukwu, in a viral video, declared that Davido should not expect to perform in Edo State for the remainder of Governor Okpebholo’s administration, accusing the singer of disrespecting the governor and his family.

According to IREPORTERONLINE, the warning followed a recent political dispute between Davido and the Edo governor linked to the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

Okpebholo had criticised Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle, during the election campaign. Davido subsequently shared what appeared to be the governor’s WAEC result on his Instagram Story.

The singer later defended the post during an interview, maintaining that he had no reason to apologise for sharing it.

Reacting to the development, Chukwu accused Davido of making disrespectful remarks about the Edo governor and his family. He also claimed that some Edo youths were unhappy with the singer and opposed his return to the state for performances.

The governor’s aide said, “You have been banned from coming to Edo State to perform. We don’t want to see you in Edo again.”

He further warned that Davido could face opposition from youths in the state if he attempted to return for a musical performance.

Chukwu added that the controversy had created significant tension between the singer and supporters of the Edo State government.
